Find your bearings in the world around you. Use my location finds nearby cities, mountains and sights. Or tap the location name to try a city or enter coordinates. Labels around the dial show the direction and straight-line distance to each place; tap one for details.
A compass that you can explore
Choose a radius from 10 to 250 km and show 3–8 landmarks. Results favor recognizable places and a mixture of directions. Wider searches balance nearby sights with regional cities, mountains and attractions. A city preview excludes its own city marker. Coverage varies; this is a selection, not every place within the circle. Mountains and buildings are not necessarily visible from where you stand.
Results start with a built-in catalogue of Natural Earth cities and mountains, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and selected Wikidata landmarks. OpenStreetMap can add local detail when available. A slow or unavailable map service does not hold up the catalogue. The source credit shows which data is being used.
North up or turn with your phone
The initial view has geographic north at the top. Tap Start compass, allow motion access if asked, and hold the phone flat, screen up. The dial and landmarks turn together. Pause to return to north up.
After you use your current location, iPhone magnetic headings are corrected using the WMM2025 magnetic model. City previews and manually entered locations do not apply this correction, because they may be somewhere other than where your phone is. Other browsers do not always expose their north reference, so their live landmark directions are approximate. The north-up view always uses geographic bearings.

If the direction seems off
Move away from magnets and metal, gently move the phone in a figure eight, then hold it flat again. A browser needs an accessible compass sensor, not just motion detection. Without one, you can still explore in north-up view. This is for discovery, not safety-critical navigation.
Built-in catalogue: sources and licence · download the data. It combines public-domain Natural Earth data, CC0 Wikidata coordinates, and UNESCO DataHub material under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Location and landmark data
Location is requested only when you tap its button. Exact coordinates are used in this page to calculate distances. A search center rounded to 0.01 degrees is sent to Cloudflare. Repeated identical searches may be reused in page memory for five minutes. Sparse searches up to 25 km may also be sent to Private.coffee Overpass (terms and privacy) to retrieve extra OpenStreetMap landmarks in the background. Rounded-area results can be cached for 24 hours. We don't save your location in browser storage.
