A LITTLE KNOW-HOW

Speaker test

Start with your device volume low. Tap Left or Right and listen for a tone on that side of your headphones or stereo speakers. Play both channels sends the same tone to both sides. Each test stops after ten seconds; Stop sound ends it immediately.

The test starts quietly at 15% test volume. Adjust it gradually if needed. This slider controls the tone inside this page, separately from your phone or computer’s volume. The tone choices are 250, 500, and 1,000 Hz.

Why do I hear both sides when I select Left or Right?

Check whether mono audio is enabled in your device’s accessibility or audio settings. A single speaker, some Bluetooth devices, spatial-audio settings, or your system’s audio routing may combine the two channels. The test sends separate stereo channels, but cannot control or verify what your device does with them.

Why can’t I hear the tone?

Check the device volume, test volume, mute setting, and selected audio output. Disconnect an unwanted Bluetooth output or try wired headphones. Make sure the page is open in a current browser. Sound stops when you leave the page, open this help, or the browser interrupts audio; tap a channel to restart.

Does this tell me if my speakers passed?

No. You listen and decide whether the expected side plays. This tool does not use your microphone and cannot detect whether sound actually came out. It is a channel check, not a hearing test, a calibrated loudness measurement, or a full speaker-quality test.

Does it upload or record audio?

No microphone access is requested. The browser generates a sine tone locally, without downloading a sound file or uploading audio. Site analytics are described in our privacy policy.
